Verónica Chacón is a dynamic, classically trained mezzo-soprano with a passion for the physicality of the human voice. Her versatile artistry spans music, theatre, and design, with a creative, holistic approach that captivates audiences and forges deep, emotional connections.

Originally from Geneva and now based in London, Verónica’s rich musical journey began at the prestigious Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, where she studied musical theory, choral singing, piano, improvisation, and choreography. She later honed her vocal talents at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève before continuing her education at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Over the years, Verónica has lent her talents to an array of innovative projects, including:

  • School-of-Rock-a-by-Babies (since 2009), a vibrant fusion of music and early childhood education.
  • The Improvisers’ Choir (TIC), a groundbreaking group that won the Non-Classical Battle of the Bands 2018 and collaborated on Dancing with Parkinson’s (2019).
  • THAT! Ensemble, a genre-blending quartet combining vocal improvisation, acting, and physical theatre.
  • El Parnaso Hyspano (2019-2023), an ensemble specializing in early South American music.

In addition to her performing career, Verónica has led impactful educational initiatives. She facilitated immersive opera workshops for children across six Barnet schools, culminating in an adaptation of Hansel & Gretel (2022). She is also a session musician and voice-over artist, known for projects like School-of-Rock-a-by-Babies (2016) and TIC: The Improvisers’ Choir (Landmass, 2018).

Currently, Verónica is creating an interactive album titled Sounds & Shapes, blending mandalas with healing sound to ‘tune the body,’ a project that aligns with her work as a teacher on Insight Timer (since 2020).

In 2023, she collaborated with stage director Katia Ogorodnikova on Who Does She Think She Is?! / Mais pour qui elle se prend?!, a bold new show that premiered in France. This one-woman musical, featuring Verónica’s own texts, will make its Swiss debut in April 2024. Her bilingual podcast, named after the show, is set to launch in September 2024.
