Rory Swietlicki: My Cabaret focuses on the symbolism of home; what is home? It will take you on a journey of understanding which explores what makes you as an individual, and how a place, setting, community or family contributes to your development as a person and a human. I will be drawing from my own experiences that others can relate too, I have stayed in a lot of houses and in different regions across the country throughout my life. I will be using my own personal journey and experiences from living in several different places to map out the structure of the Cabaret and connect to the audience. It will also involve me accompanying myself on the piano as well as an MD.
Nicholas Luke: My show is about my relationship with my hometown and how I came to realise that where I came from will always be a part of my identity. The show will be based around the timeline of me growing up in a small, northern town and hating the associations of small-mindedness and going my entire life without seeing something more. However, through moving away from home, I found that my roots, family and heritage helped to shape me into who I am today. Based over a period of around five years, my show will be casual, witty and full of northern, boyish charm. I will also be playing the acoustic guitar alongside piano accompaniment.
