About Duncan Eagles

Duncan Eagles is an English jazz saxophonist, composer and educator who has established himself as a respected voice in contemporary British jazz.

He first came to prominence as the leader and principal composer of Partikel, the acclaimed trio formed with double bassist Max Luthert and drummer Eric Ford. The group’s distinctive approach to the saxophone trio format earned widespread praise and developed across a series of increasingly ambitious recordings, including String Theory, which expanded their sound through the addition of a string quartet.

Eagles released his debut album as a bandleader, Citizen, through the American label Ropeadope in 2019. He followed it with Narrations in 2023, a largely acoustic quartet recording praised for its storytelling quality and his growing confidence as both a composer and performer.

As a sought-after sideman, Eagles has performed and recorded with artists including Zara McFarlane, Shabaka Hutchings, Gary Husband, Jason Rebello, Ola Onabulé and Janek Gwizdala. His international appearances include Ronnie Scott’s, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
