Terms & Conditions: The Jazz Ladder

1. Eligibility & Applications
First Sets: Applicants must be aged 18–25 at the time of application. Proof of age may be required before a booking is confirmed.
Spotlight Series: Applicants must not have previously headlined a ticketed show under their own name at a major London Jazz Club.

Submitting an application does not guarantee a performance slot. Due to the high volume of interest, we cannot provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

The selection of artists is entirely at the discretion of Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club and the independent Jazz Ladder Steering Group. Their decision is final.

2. Performance & Payment
All selected artists will be paid at standard Musicians’ Union (MU) rates. The specific fee is calculated based on the standard MU hourly rate for your designated call time (typically a 3.5-hour call for a ‘Spotlight Series’ slot, or a 1.5 hour call for a ‘First Set’).

Payment terms and exact performance times will be outlined in a formal booking agreement sent to successful applicants.

Artists are expected to arrive on time for sound checks and adhere to the venue’s professional code of conduct.

3. Filming & Media Rights
By accepting a ‘First Set’ or ‘Spotlight Series’ gig, you consent to being filmed and photographed during your performance by Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club.

Your Rights: Toulouse Lautrec will provide First Sets participants with a free, professional-grade video showreel (EPK) of your performance. You are free to use this footage indefinitely for your own promotional purposes (social media, website, booking agents).

Venue Rights: You grant Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club the right to use the footage, audio, and photographs across our website, social media channels, and promotional materials (including reporting to Arts Council England) without additional compensation.

4. Data Protection & Privacy
In accordance with UK GDPR, the personal data you provide in this form (name, email, age, media links) will be used solely for the purpose of administering ‘The Jazz Ladder’ programme.

Your application details will be shared securely with our internal team and our independent Steering Group for selection purposes.

If you indicate that you attend our jam sessions, we may use your email to send you relevant updates about jam dates and Jazz Ladder opportunities.

We will not sell or share your data with any third-party marketing agencies. You can request the deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@toulouselautrec.co.uk.

5. Funding Acknowledgment
The Jazz Ladder is supported by Arts Council England. Where applicable, artists may be asked to briefly acknowledge this support during their performance or when sharing their official video showreel online.
