Brand New Show – All Aboard the Jazz Express!

The Hot Jazz Vagabonds premiere a glamorous, mystery-infused cabaret aboard Europe’s most stylish train

London’s acclaimed ensemble The Hot Jazz Vagabonds return with a brand-new cabaret, All Aboard the Jazz Express!, debuting on Saturday 9 May at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026 and touring to theatre venues in the autumn.

Step aboard the dining car of the world’s most glamorous train, where The Hot Jazz Vagabonds transform the stage into a whirlwind of hot 1930s swing, smoky chanson and post-war jazz — underscored by a playful, Hercule Poirot–style hint of mystery.

As the train pauses at glittering stations along its legendary route, a cast of intriguing characters emerges, each bringing their own musical flavour — and a few surprises — to the journey. Blending cabaret, storytelling and live music, the show delivers a richly atmospheric, fast-moving ride through a Europe alive with rhythm, intrigue and mischief.

Starring singer and actress Airlie Scott, the production features The Hot Jazz Vagabonds: Dave Ahmed and Andy Ruiz Palma (guitars), Alan Gibson (double bass) and Pete Watson (accordion). Together, they bring virtuosic musicianship and theatrical flair to a seamless blend of 1930s jazz, European song and swinging post-war sounds.

The production follows the success of the five-star Edinburgh Fringe hit Paris in a Jazz Age – The Memoirs of Eloise DeFleur, widely praised for its evocative storytelling and musical charm. In a ★★★★★ review, Get Your Coats On described it as:

“a triumphal blend of music, theatre, comedy, and romance”

and noted:

“Scott’s audience interactions are lively and elegant, her voice strong yet supple… The band are simply magnifique. Not a note out of place, not a beat missed, every swing a sensation.”

With All Aboard the Jazz Express!, the company expands its signature style into a bold new setting—swapping a Parisian café for an Orient Express–style dining car, and weaving together continental influences with a light-touch sense of humour, mystery and fun.

Set within the intimate, immersive cabaret-style surroundings of Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, the show offers London audiences a rare opportunity to experience this new production up close before it travels north.

Rich in atmosphere, storytelling and irresistible rhythm, All Aboard the Jazz Express! is a high-spirited musical adventure—perfect for jazz lovers, theatre-goers and curious travellers alike.

Following its London preview on 9 May, the production will travel to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026, alongside the return of Paris in a Jazz Age – The Memoirs of Eloise DeFleur.
