A Celebration of Black Composers ft. Houston Patton Quartet

Detroit Saxophonist Houston Patton and his quartet make their Toulouse Lautrec debut with jazz celebrating Black composers worldwide and Patton’s original music for Black History Month.

Jazz shaped by Black composers from around the world

Fresh from Detroit and newly arrived in London, saxophonist Houston Patton makes his Toulouse Lautrec debut with an evening devoted to Black composers from around the world.

Across the night, Patton and his quartet will explore music shaped by a range of jazz traditions, with original compositions by Patton woven into the sets.

Join them for a celebration of the composers behind the music and the new voices carrying it forward.

About Houston Patton

Following in his father’s footsteps, Houston Patton began playing saxophone at a young age. His development was shaped by the mentorship of Harry Patton, Daryl Beebe, Jordan VanHemert, Wendell Harrison and Andrew Bishop.

Patton graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2024 with a BFA in Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation. In February 2025, he became the youngest bandleader to host a residency at Detroit’s Cliff Bell’s. He released Nomination with his band Hidden Nomination in May 2026, before moving to London that September.
