Celebrating Kurt Weill ft. Harfoush & Rebecca Lang

Kurt Weill’s career as a songwriter spanned over fifty years. A German Jew, he was a star of the Weimar cabaret scene, writing and performing with legends including Marlene Deitrich and his life partner Lotte Lenya, before the rise of Nazism forced him to flee Germany. He resettled in the USA, where he rebuilt his career as a writer of legendary Broadway musicals and American jazz.

Join award-winning Egyptian jazz artist Harfoush – based in London – and Australian pianist musical director Rebecca Lang – based on Germany – for an evening which takes the music of this legendary jazz icon as our map, as we take a journey through the experience of artists living outside their native culture, and adapting their musical language to fit their new home.
