“Wonderful new talent” – Jools Holland
Just 24 years old, with rich and resonant vocals that belie her age, Lucy Merrilyn stands on the cusp of a formidable career. Performing classic tunes of the worlds leading ladies of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Julie London and Peggy Lee to name a few.
The Lucy Merrilyn project brings elegance and vibrancy to the fore. Her sprightly, fresh interpretation of traditional standards guarantees to entice and dazzle — Ms Merrilyn is one act not to be missed.
Appearing as the guest vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, she’s a rising star on the UK jazz scene, and we’re thrilled you get to enjoy her duo, with us at the Toulouse Lautrec, Piano Room.
In the summer of 2019, Lucy recorded Sometimes I’m Happy, her debut three-track EP featuring formidable UK jazz saxophonist, Dave O’Higgins, and Jools Holland’s bassist of 27 years, Dave Swift. ‘Sometimes I’m Happy’ is just a taster of what is to come from this rising young talent. An eagerly anticipated album is set to be released in the spring of 2021.
