Through music, Sarah L King likes to tell stories. Whether it’s one of her own well crafted soulful compositions, or an interpretation of a classic jazz standard, Sarah gets underneath the lyrics to convey their truth, with an effortlessly elegant phrasing that shows an innate understanding of the musicality of the song.
At ease on stage, Sarah naturally gravitates to the spotlight as a performer, having come from a family heritage of music, her Father an accomplished jazz trumpeter, her Grandmother an orchestral conductor, to cite a few. Throughout Sarah’s childhood she absorbed many musical influences that have shaped her as a musician and a singer-songwriter today. Sarah started her singing journey in jazz & gospel choirs where she could apply her ability to harmonise and improvise, before swiftly emerging as a solo artist. An accomplished band leader, Sarah appears regularly in London jazz venues with her highly accomplished quartet, selling-out shows and captivating her audiences.
This Autumn is very exciting as Sarah builds towards the imminent release of her much anticipated debut album of original material & jazz standards, produced by Claire Martin OBE, & ECN Music. You can sit back & enjoy some well-chosen vocal jazz standards and foot tapping soul favourites, & get a sneak peak into one or two surprises from this exciting forthcoming release!
