About Amelia Wilding

Amelia Wilding is a South East London-based bassist, composer, songwriter and bandleader whose music bridges contemporary jazz, alternative songwriting and folk-inspired storytelling. Rooted in improvisation, her work explores vulnerability, identity and human connection through richly textured compositions that leave space for spontaneous musical conversation, making every performance unique.

A graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Amelia has built a diverse career as both a performer and educator. She is an Emerging Professional with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), where she has performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, collaborated on projects including Sam Eastmond’s *MASADA*, and worked as a choir leader and workshop musician, helping to inspire the next generation of young artists.

As a bandleader, Amelia has established herself as one of London’s exciting emerging voices, presenting original music that seamlessly blends contemporary jazz, folk traditions and alternative songwriting. Influenced by artists including Joni Mitchell, Esperanza Spalding, Radiohead and Saya Gray, her compositions balance lyrical storytelling with adventurous harmony and fearless improvisation, inviting audiences into performances that evolve organically in the moment.

Whether leading her own ensemble or collaborating across London’s vibrant jazz scene, Amelia is recognised for creating immersive live performances where expressive ensemble playing, emotional honesty and creative freedom sit at the heart of the music.
