Benoit Viellefon is a true globetrotter of jazz, having played over 2000 shows with his Orchestra, Hot Club, and trio all around the world, from Paris to Eastern Europe, to Japan and Russia. He’s a multitalented artist who’s recorded a dozen of albums and appeared in Hollywood films, TV productions, and even Netflix’s hit series “The Crown” as an actor, composer, and recording artist.
And when it comes to his quartet, you can expect nothing but pure musical magic. The Benoit Viellefon Quartet has been delighting audiences at the most elegant venues around town, including a residency at Ronnie Scotts since 2014. Their music is inspired by the hot swinging jazz of New York and Los Angeles’ infamous nightclubs, as well as the beautiful tunes played in Paris and Havana in the 1930s and ’40s.
Their performances will transport you to the golden age of jazz, combining the burning excitement of hot jazz and swing with the romanticism of French and Latin music. With a lineup reminiscent of the Nat King Cole Trio, the quartet features piano, guitar, and double bass with occasional vocal harmonies, along with the brilliant sax and clarinet player Dave Shulman.
Benoit’s concerts are not to be missed, as they’re always highly entertaining and tend to sell out fast. So don’t wait too long and get yourself a front-row ticket to experience the magic of Benoit Viellefon and his incredible quartet.
