Welcome to the world premiere of the contemporary jazz ensemble ‘Blueprint’! This project brings together brand new music written by James and Sarah Keirle and some of the finest young jazz musicians from around the UK. We promise a new sound fusing influences from Nubya Garcia to Fela Kuti, Yussef Dayes to Irish folk song, and Shabaka Hutchings to Handel.Â
Through ancient folk tales, commentaries on the digital age and introspective stories, our music reflects on the strange realities living in a 21st century Britain. Lyrics woven amongst slashing horns, West African grooves complementing electroacoustic landscapes and jazz harmony mingling with the spoken work, prepare for a true adventure into the musical unknown.
BLUEPRINT is a brand new powerhouse of contemporary jazz, bringing together some of the finest young musicians from around the UK. Our music is a heady concoction of afrobeat, British folk music, techno and hip-hop, as well as our roots in jazz itself – all channelled through the flowing lyrical lines of Sarah Keirle’s vocals.
Our influences stretch from Nubya Garcia to Fela Kuti, Yussef Dayes to Irish folk song, and Shabaka Hutchings to Handel. We’ll add our voice to this list with a brand new voice of British jazz.
