Join tap dancer Petra Haller and her ensemble of London’s top young jazz musicians—Sacha Harlan, Tom O Brian, and Ed Le Feuvre—at Toulouse Lautrec for a night of tunes by Coltrane, Monk, and more.

Haller’s groundbreaking use of tap as a percussive instrument breathes new life into the music, blending rhythm, movement, and sound in an unforgettable performance.

Internationally acclaimed tap dancer Petra Haller takes the stage at Toulouse Lautrec alongside some of London’s brightest young jazz talents: Sacha Harlan on drums, Tom O Brian on piano, and Ed Le Feuvre on bass. Known for her innovative approach to tap dance as a percussive instrument, Haller’s performances blur the lines between dance and music, allowing her feet to act as a rhythm section that adds new textures to the jazz ensemble. The group will explore the music of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and other jazz icons, fusing traditional jazz with modern improvisation.

Tap dance, historically intertwined with jazz, once played a vital role as both visual and rhythmic accompaniment. Petra Haller’s work redefines that role, bringing tap back to its rightful place in jazz, not just as a dance form but as a powerful percussive voice. Her interactions with the band transform the dance into a dialogue of rhythm, where each step contributes to the overall musical composition, making this performance an exciting blend of sound and movement that celebrates the enduring legacy of tap in jazz.
