Swinging straight-ahead jazz with a subtle classical influence

Pianist Tom Jurkiewicz brings his trio to Toulouse Lautrec for an evening of beautifully crafted jazz, moving between upbeat swing, intimate ballads and music coloured by his classical background.

Joined by double bass and drums, Tom explores the expressive possibilities of the classic piano trio format. The group’s music is rooted in the straight-ahead jazz tradition while retaining a distinctive character, with moments of classical elegance woven naturally into its sound.

From energetic, rhythmically driven passages to quieter and more reflective performances, expect a warm and varied evening showcasing the close musical connection between three accomplished players.

About Tom Jurkiewicz

Tom Jurkiewicz is a London-based jazz pianist with more than 20 years of experience performing across the capital’s music scene.

After studying music at the University of Birmingham, he continued his development as a jazz pianist at the Conservatoire National de Lyon in France. His broad musical background spans jazz, classical music and a variety of other styles, bringing versatility, sensitivity and a strong melodic sensibility to his playing.

Alongside his work as a performer, Tom is an experienced classical and jazz piano teacher. He released the four-track recording Introducing Tom Jurkiewicz Trio in 2016, featuring original pieces that bring together jazz improvisation and classical influences. His wider performance work has included appearances as a pianist and keyboard player in ensembles and jazz house bands around London.
