Dagmarr’s Kabarett – Indefinite Leave To Remain – A love letter to London in the words and music of the Pet Shop Boys.
‘Indefinite Leave to Remain’ is the new show by Dagmarr’s Kabarett. A love letter to London from the heart of eternal nomad ghost Hersh Dagmarr as he and his pianist and arranger extraordinaire Karen Newby deconstruct the songs of The Pet Shop Boys and transport them to the Weimar era.
Hersh Dagmarr is a London-based Queer singer/songwriter and visual artist. His visceral inspiration from the grand Weimar Berlin era mixed with his own experience as a club kid from the noughties and the 2010s evolved into a unique blend of jazz, dance and electronic avant-pop with elements of cabaret mixed in.
“My interest in music is quite polar. It’s equally coming from a faraway past and a rather distant future. Like some kind of haunting past life.”
Karen Newby is an accomplished, classically trained versatile piano vocalist, with an ever expanding repertoire covering all styles, Karen performs in 5 star venues around the world.
‘’Dagmarr evokes an unfettered and elegant decadence unfelt since Moulin Rouge” – Matt Katz-Bohen, Blondie, Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum.
“Oozing 1940s decadence, Dagmarr’s beguiling stage persona struck an ironic tone that balanced melodrama and whimsy to surprisingly satisfying effect.” – Gavin Brock, Cabaret Scenes.
“The stellar Dagmarr’s Kabarett; A French singer and a British classic pianist giving us pure cabaret to sing us into the night” – Patrick Cash, QX Magazine.
“Hersh Dagmarr is a fabulous artist and a great singer! Check him out!” – Mark Moore, S’Express
