“…an outstanding musician…she knows how to communicate with her audience, and has the virtuosity that marks her out as a natural pianist.” – The Times UK
‘…One to watch…’ – The Observer, UK
“As a performer, I love playing the music of Philip Glass; his ‘Metamorphosis’ profoundly influenced me as an artist and composer. In the first part of the show, I will intertwine Philip Glass’ music with my own compositions, guiding my audience through a transformative experience.
The second half features new works from my forthcoming album ‘Exhale’. I will also perform my own compositions which appear in the highly acclaimed TV series ‘Killing Eve’. Additionally, I present two works whose streaming proceeds on any digital channel worldwide go to the UK charity, ‘Support Kharkiv Foundation’, which aids the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and its citizens.
I hope this evening will provide you with an oasis of relaxation and reflection.” – GéNIA
Described by The Times as “an outstanding musician,” Ukrainian-born concert pianist turned composer-yogi, GéNIA, has achieved success with her compositions and with several sold-out shows in London. Her music has enjoyed placements in acclaimed TV series such as BBC America’s ‘Killing Eve’, the British ITV series ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Close to Me’, to name just a few.
Initially trained as a classical concert pianist, after several years as a performing artist, GéNIA made a pioneering move away from the classical concert platform. She has collaborated with a diverse range of artists and composers, especially in the realm of piano and electronics. As an innovative performer and composer, she has crossed over into the genre of pop. GéNIA has commissioned over 30 works for piano and electronics and premiered numerous works by contemporary composers, including Gabriel Prokofiev, Howard Skempton, Hayden Parsey, John Richards and Max de Wardener. She has also worked with renowned artists such as the Brodsky Quartet, Andy Sheppard, and Jason Yarde.
GéNIA’s compositions are performed worldwide and can be heard on Classic FM, Scala Radio, BBC Radios 2, 3, and 4, BBC London Radio 94.9, BBC World Service, London News TV Channel, and Talk Radio.
Her recorded music career features the release of several innovative contemporary music albums on labels such as Blackbox, Nonclassical, Chappell, and Karma Sounds. GéNIA has also founded her own record label, GéNIA MUSIC, through which she continues to release her compositions.
Additionally, she has established Piano-Yoga®, a revolutionary piano method hailed by Yoga & Health Magazine as “the 21st-century answer to playing the piano,” which has received international acclaim.
In response to the war in Ukraine, GéNIA founded the UK charity ‘Support Kharkiv Foundation’ to assist the citizens of Kharkiv and its surrounding regions, where she was born.
