Inspired by musical pilgrimages to New Orleans, the band channels the vibrant spirit of Frenchmen Street, blending early jazz, New Orleans swing and vintage dancehall atmosphere into an unforgettable live experience.
A regular favourite at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, Biscuit Town frequently fills the venue with the joyous sounds of vintage jazz, transporting audiences from South London to the lively clubs of New Orleans and the cafés of Paris. Led by Barry Holloway, a respected figure on the UK and European swing dance circuit with appearances at events including Rhythm Riot, Rivoli Ballroom and Twinwood Festival, the band features some of London’s finest young jazz musicians alongside regular guest vocalists including Lydia Bell, Elise Roth and Immy Churchill.
Biscuit Town is celebrated for its versatility, performing in two distinctive styles. Their “Little Big Band” sound delivers hard-driving New Orleans-inspired swing with a powerful acoustic rhythm and horn section, while their gypsy jazz line-up introduces violin, clarinet and Parisian café charm inspired by the great European jazz traditions.
