Mozes Rosenberg
Mozes Rosenberg is one of contemporary gypsy jazz’s leading guitarists, celebrated for his dazzling improvisation, unmistakable swing feel and performances at London Gypsy Jazz Festival held at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club.
Mozes Rosenberg is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive and electrifying voices in contemporary gypsy jazz. Born into the world-renowned Rosenberg family, the most influential dynasty in modern gypsy jazz, Mozes learned his craft at the very heart of the Sinti jazz tradition, developing a style that combines breath taking virtuosity, deep swing feel and remarkable musical expression.
A celebrated performer at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club and a standout artist of the London Gypsy Jazz Festival, Mozes captivates audiences with performances that honour the legacy of Django Reinhardt while pushing the genre into exciting new territory. His playing blends the unmistakable “Rosenberg touch” with flashes of flamenco-inspired phrasing, lyrical improvisation and a modern harmonic approach that has made him one of the most respected guitarists on the international jazz scene.
Mozes began playing guitar at the age of six under the guidance of his father Mimer Rosenberg, his brother Stochelo Rosenberg and his uncle Waso Grünholz, founder of the Dutch Sinti jazz style. By just seven years old, he was already appearing on Dutch television alongside the Rosenberg Trio, revealing extraordinary talent from an early age.
Throughout his musical journey, Mozes has drawn inspiration from a wide range of legendary artists. A meeting with flamenco icon Paco de Lucía left a lasting influence on his phrasing and musicality, while jazz fusion pioneer Joe Zawinul offered masterclasses and guidance during the North Sea Jazz Festival. He has also crossed paths with guitar legend George Benson, further broadening his artistic perspective.
Mozes has performed at some of the world’s leading jazz festivals including Jazz in Marciac, North Sea Jazz Festival, Sicilia Jazz Festival and Nice Jazz Festival, while regularly touring internationally in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, New York and London.
His appearances at prestigious venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, PizzaExpress Live Holborn, Bimhuis and Le Duc des Lombards have cemented his reputation as one of the leading guitarists in modern gypsy jazz today.
Whether performing gypsy jazz classics, original compositions or inventive reinterpretations of jazz and pop standards, Mozes Rosenberg continues to expand the language of the guitar while remaining deeply connected to the rich musical heritage of the Sinti jazz tradition.
